About This Course
The Container Networking from First Principles training explains how Docker networking is built on standard Linux networking mechanisms rather than a separate networking system. It introduces the core building blocks - network namespaces, interfaces and IP addresses, TCP/UDP sockets, ports, veth pairs, Linux bridges, routing, DNS, NAT and firewall rules—and shows how Docker automates these components to connect containers with each other, the host and external networks.
The course also focuses on practical connectivity and troubleshooting, including port publishing, localhost behaviour, service discovery, network isolation, IPv4/IPv6 considerations, and tools such as ip, ss, docker inspect and tcpdump. The overall goal is to help learners understand the full packet path and diagnose networking issues systematically from the application inside the container through the Docker host to the destination network.
